It's Now Day Three of our Cruise

APRIL 8
10 minutes after embarking drink in hand
As mentioned previously we embarked on the afternoon of April 8th. We are in cabin 703 which is right to the front or to be technical the bow of the ship. The room is very comfortable but more of that in a future post.

We set sail at 5.00 p.m., escorted by a 'swarm of jelly fish and headed to the United Arab Emirate of Fujairah.




APRIL 9
Safely delivered to Port Fujairah
Fourteen hours (7.00 a.m.) later after lots of food, merriment and a much needed good night's sleep we set anchor at the port of Fujairah.  Fujairah is on the Golf of Oman unlike the other Emirates.
We chose not to explore Fujairah City but instead to undertake Desert Safari.  We were picked up by an off-road vehicle which held the four of us (Pam, Barbara, Leon and Ken)




I personally found the desert landscape extraordinary, beautiful, mysterious and in some ways overwhelming.  Even though over-time I have seen so many pictures etc. of 'the desert' to be in it was an experience I cherished.

In the end there I were 32 off-road vehicles in our convoy.  Ecologically appropriate? Not sure! But great fun up and down the dunes with a competent driver.












Back to the ship after a five hour journey.


APRIL 10
Today is a day at sea.  Very restful and as always enjoyable time spent with our friends Pam and Leon and some time to struggle through the preparation of this posting on my blog.

    Not sure about the 32 off-road vehicles and are you sure they were jellyfish and not plastic bags?

Israel Two Ports Three Days: Day Two Haifa

Tuesday April 23, Haifa the Next Port Haifa is a northern city of Israel likened to San Francisco The Baha'i Shrine and Gardens of Haifa are amazing.  Unfortunately this picture does not do it justice Obviously we are back home but catching up with my postings.  Mainly to have my personal reflections of the cruise but also for others to follow. DAY ZERO: Are we getting through to our Blog Readers?

It’s April 8th now   We have a case full of clothes to meet the prevailing climates. It seems we can expect temperatures around a maximum of 30 -34 this side of the Suez Canal whilst as we get closer to Europe temperatures will be in the low 20s.  All in all sounding very comfortable with at this stage only one day with rain forecasted. Let’s hope that this turns out to be the case. Flying business class with Emirates we will have a chauffeured car collecting us at 18.50 which means we will arrive at Adelaide Airport in plenty of time to enjoy the Qantas Lounge.  We are due to arrive in Dubai at around 5.00 a.m. and board ship at around 1.00 p.m.  Accordingly living the life of luxury we have booked a hotel room at the Hyatt Regency, Dubai.  This will enable us to have a substantial breakfast and rest up for the seven hours or so before we head off to the Port to embark.
